Works for me. I'm in the fandom for more than 7 years and my "fursona" was and is always human. I've got a bunch of non human characters as well, but I don't pretend to be them. I would sure dress up for shits and giggles, but I am not sure if I'd ever bother to make my own fursuit. But do like like furries over my own kind.
As for... murrsuits... if it's well done and there's a person of my own gender in it, I'd totally hit it :3
