>>49742939No, Temtem had a lot wrong with it but the double battles are far from being one of its many flaws. There's just as many Support and Synergy moves than there are basic bitch moves like ember. Temtem's main problem was trying too hard to change up the formula and giving every unique Tem their own niche, but in the end most if not all defensive oriented tems are hinderances in both competitive and casual gameplay. Most types only have 1 or 2 weaknesses, which is good on paper, but it's really fucking dumb that types like wind serve no other purpose but to be the only poison weakness, which is a really fucking good type in game. The stamina system rewards an "all or nothing" playstyle, so 9 times out of 10 you're better off using hyper offense tems like Mushook and Tental. Some tems get really good stab moves early on, while ones like Mushi have to wait 20+ levels with the game's equivalent of Poison sting for any amount of stab.
I could go on and on about what temtem failed to achieve as a monlike, but the battle system had a lot of potential and it makes me kinda sad that a game like that just kinda came and went.
