They feel so remote and distant, so far from the hustle and bustle of the city. But also kind of lonely and forgotten, completely surrounded by sea with every place feeling less populated than the one before. This somewhat melancholic aura makes a nice contrast with the summery, subtropical nature of the islands. Like the orange islands adventure but with a dash of yokohama kaidashi kikou.
I wonder how it feels irl, living on the Izu islands. So near but so far away of the massive monster that is tokyo metropolitan area.
