The point is that most of the designs by gamefreak are absolute shit, and they haven't improved at all. The designs that are good are usually based on fictional creatures or ones like Scrafty which is a stylized lizard that is infused with hip hop culture. It's unique, not just a bland stylized design of a real animal copied verbatim.
We need more designs based off hybrids of animals. More fictional creatures based on various cultures and folklores (see SMT). Not a generic sheep or dog.
