>>47794651I've always felt Pokeballs have their uses, like I remember this moment in S&M that talked about how this Machamp's trainer called it back into its ball before a car crash killed him. It cost the trainer his life, but it saved the Machamp, who subsequently flung its ball off somewhere and became a Rider Pokemon for his late trainer's wife. But, it also tells me that these devices don't really *need* to be used in all cases. A Pokemon doesn't need to be captured to want to travel with its friends be it human or Pokemon, look at Meowth, he happily travels with Jessie and James and doesn't need a ball. He fights side by side when them when he can, and I think that is how it should be done.
I'm pretty sure this what N talks about in Pokemon Masters, where Pokemon no longer use Pokeballs instead walk alongside their partners as equals and teammates, and it works wonders. I'm surprised that this isn't done more often in the core series.
