More importantly, it's gotten a ton of art that seems suspicious if it wasn't going to be a focal point of this generation, much the same way Greninja got a lot of different art pieces while Delphox and Chesnaught got the same couple of stock pieces recycled over and over. You underestimate the ultimate appeal fire-types and cats/tigers have, and GF/TPCi's boner for Incineroar considering it's literal top 30 VGC material. Throw in the high likelihood of Gen 8 at the end of this year or early-ass 2019, and they're probably just going to slap Incineroar everywhere for ease and call it a generation rather than shift gears mid-gen to promote a pokemon that sells much better in its base form.
