>>56970927Personally I'd chalk it up to less in-depth cultural research than what they did for Hawaii and the UK. Paldea isn't as spot-on towards Spain as Alola is for Hawaii, because Game Freak had their guys go to Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and not too many other places. You can see that in Mesagoza, where the academy itself is clearly modeled after la Sagrada Familia, and right below that you have a version of the Plaza Mayor in Madrid. Regions like Andalucía, the biggest hot spot of flamenco culture, have little to no representation.
I can see why: Spain was chosen because it's a great place for an open world game. We have beaches, mountains, caves, hot places, cold places, forests, even a little bit of desert. But the culture is something that isn't very well-known outside of one or two stereotypes. Hell, I was worried the plot and legendaries would just be copy-pasted from México at first, but they decided to do their own thing. That's the good ending IMO.
If I had been there as a consultant or something, maybe I could've helped out a bit. But alas.
