>>49048464No, Red's a researcher in this one, Blue's the battle autist aiming for Champion. The rationalfaggotry doesn't manifest how you think it does—the art of battling in general is well thought-out in the story, trainers aren't idiots like wizards are. They're resourceful and clever because of how dangerous their world is, and secretive because they're all competing with each other. They know about breeding, they give coded commands instead of yelling out attack names, and they fight dirty. The worldbreaking rationalhax come into play when they discover new methods of catching pokemon, lore about their universe (distortion world fuckery and ghost types), and—a big focus of the story (because Red's a psychic in this one)—psychic powers and their applications.
It's pretty character-focused and a slow burn, evident by the fact that it's got like 90 something chapters and nowhere near ending, and also very grim and dark—the pokemon world depicted here is way more dangerous than that of most fics. Think Worm x Pokemon x HPMOR for the story, basically. If you're into all three, you'll love it, if not, then maybe not.
