When a cat shows you a mouse, but doesn't give it to you (they leave you dead prey, because they think you can't hunt for yourself and need the help), it's showing off how skilled it was to catch the meal. And from personal experience, given the choice, mine will sleep on my bed, rather than her bed or the sofa in the living room (because the scent of their human makes them feel safe).
