In reality, baby Pokemon should just be a way to introduce certain evo lines earlier. I.E. you find a Magby on route 102, sweet after a gym or two you’ll have a Magmar. Or maybe you get a Pichu really early in the game which turns into Pikachu, etc.
Problem is this is almost never how it was handled, with the exception of like Budew and Munchlax in Gen 4.
If I have to go out of my way to breed two Magmars with a fucking incense item to get Magby, then its not a good addition to the game—its pokedex filler of the worst kind. I dont even think that breeder autists liked them since they’d rather be breeding other, better Pokemon.
