The idea of a Pokeball is fresh and interesting enough, but Imagine in the same generation, one of the designers spitballing and coming up with the idea of a mimic like Pokémon based on the Pokeball technology, you'd walk up to it expecting to be an item.
If you're a mythology weeb and you know the concept that an object comes to life after a hundred years of service and you know from the game that Pokeballs are a recent invention. It's really an interesting question why all these pokeballs formed sentience in just that short amount of time, and once awoken started rolling around fast as hell, using electrical moves, and purposely exploding.
Klefki, Mr Mime, the Trubbish and Grimer lines get too much hate.
