I think ORAS not having the battle frontier killed their chances. With so many Hoenn mons getting covered there and Lucy's ace being a seviper, seviper would've been a shoo-in and zangoose would've gotten one as its counterpart. Now that so many Hoenn mons have megas (second most of any region after Kanto) and there's so many other regions to cover, I would expect very few or no new Hoenn megas, and I'd also expect flygon to eat one of those coveted spots due to outcry last time.
Would love a mega seviper though, always been one of my favorites. So many cool directions to take them in; maybe a poison/dragon lindworm to oppose a normal/steel knight, maybe leaning harder into its subtle mesoamerican inspiration, maybe just becoming another multiheaded serpent because those are always winners.
