Every gen had a small but very vocal hatebase that kept shitting up the place initially until they moved to the next one.
Gen 4 got shit for cross gen evolutions
Gen 5 got shit for its dex and not having old mons in the maingame
Even Gen 6 got shit for Megas, remember how fucking hated Mega Mewtwo was?
Yet Gen 6 still got hate and criticism long after release for its non-existant postgame and difficulty and writing that are both shit even by Pokemon standards
If a Gen gets shat on for something that isn't just "new mons look like shit" you know something is wrong.
