Some look better in 6, like Haxorus, but overall yeah.

Hydreigon got butchered bad. I loved it's sprite and animation and then they just made it even fatter and ruined the wings.

I suppose they were original design 'flaws' but they definitely got worse in XY. I loved how it looked in Gen V.

And none of that has to do with it being overdesigned whatsoever. It lacts detail, if anything, showing that there's a fine balance between the two. But given that it's supposed to resemble a tank/sockpuppet I think it works well, just not in 3D.
