Dark, ghost, fighting as secondary typing means all starters have strong stab or super effective moves against the starter they would normally be weak to. This is so much better than in the past where we've seen starters get secondary typings that just give yet another stab that is super effective against the starter they are already strong against. These starters are all very balanced against each other. Furthermore the hidden abilities are set up to further improve the weak match up. Unaware beats Moxie, Moxie beats Protean with damage, Protean beats Unaware.
