I just watched Mewtwo 3D and holy shit I was surprised. It looked way better than the screenshots and trailers made it look and the changes made worked pretty well and were actually nice, aside from the full backstory missing again.
But even more than that, why did the scenes when the startrs fight the clones, when Mewtwo catches the realmons, when brawlout between the realmon and the clones happens and ESPECIALLY Ash's death all end up way more effective, impactful and surprisingly very emotional in this remake? I don't recall who directed and voice directed this one, but props to them both and props to Ric and Ikue especially. Pikachu's reaction to Ash dying in the original was just a little sad but his reaction in this remake was downright heartbreaking. Similar to the Lucario movie and Movie 20.
tl;dr Mewtwo 3D was pretty neat. Wouldn't mind an original 3D movie in the future but hoping the next movie is a good 2D one.
