Lol. Sure not every ship has canon material but if it's something like Hassel and Brassius where they have that canonical importance to each other then it's pointless getting mad over it. Generally every character's most popular ship will be whoever they interact with the most, aside from MC selfinsert. Pokemon characters, especially older ones, barely even had any relationships, so people build on what they get.
If I like a husbando enough I generally check out all the options. I'll only come to hate a ship if the actual shippers are being obnoxious, especially if they call it the wholesome pure alternative to my OTP, or if I just really think the other character isn't a good match for husbando and it wouldn't work out.
