>>52866652RBY GSC makes a tidy little retro era, those 2 games had trading thru a "time machine". Rocket had whips, things were more monsterous, there was a war. tech level was very similar to dragonball, with everything being transported with capsule technology and the time machine being kinda no big deal in GSC.
ADVANCE-DS era had no backwards compatibility with GBC. RSE seemed to exist on its own but the timeline ended up fleshed out, as FRLG and HGSS replaced the old games. Throw in Platinum (more canon than DP because of Cyrus event in HGSS) also, the theory is that FRLG and RSE take place, then GSC DPPt 2 years later because characters reference past events and age. Black and White don't reference anything but B2W2 tie it back in with world tournament, I assume its all one timeline.
3DS MEGA TIMELINE
explicitly talks about how it is an unstable timeline. new timeline was necessary to make mega evolution into less of a retcon. All we see is Kalos and Hoenn but Hoenn is certainly different than how we previously saw it. I suppose Kalos or a PokeFrance existed in the old timelines but we never saw it. Lore of that game said mega nuke went off relating to box legendaries. that mightve been the splitting point between timelines. Delta episode in ORAS references timeline level threat. mega rayquaza. Remakes seem like alternate timelines for GF. uhhh Sun and Moon are mega timeline right? USUM had Archie and Maxie from original RSE. This is important. They talk about succeeding in their plans though, so I guess there are unseen/dead timelines where protagonist fails?
SO there is at least 3. I didn't play SwSh, is it still in the mega timeline? are there megas?
PLA and SV are definitely connected. Which of the 3 universes its part of is yet to be seen. Megas are only part of one timeline afaik. kinda hope they don't come back desu. I'm very confident in my research but have no data on SWSH, someone else fill in.
