I knew that no-one else save Buck - who still isn't Bibarel - could do effective damage against Roarke's team, so I figured I would let Olaf take point. Got through his Geodude and Onix with little trouble, and the only moves of note they got off were Stealth Rock and a single Screech.
Turns out that bit me in the ass, massively, when Cranidos appeared. Olaf just hit Lv. 14 and learned Razor Leaf, so I used it, immediately putting Cranidos in the red with only a Leer in retaliation. Assuming his potions were spent on his Geodude, I used Absorb for the kill, but he healed again. I didn't think it was a big deal and just went to Absorb what little health was left, but he survived, and promptly proceeded to one-shot the poor Turtwig with a Headbutt.
Really shoulda used Razor Leaf again.
I sent out Feldspar despite being three levels below him, who was capable of tanking Headbutt well enough and a Rock Throw put Cranidos on the edge of death again. To my amazement, though, he used Pursuit of all things, which happened to be a crit...and you can guess what happened there.
Mittens cleaned up. That battle was a mess if ever there was one. In order to avert a similar calamity, I have been grinding like crazy in the lead-up to Mars. I'd forgotten just how slow the battles can be sometimes.
Team is currently in missing man formation, as it were - I've slathered honey on a tree in Floaroma, but I have to wait a good five hours for that to bear fruit. Hoping for a Cherubi.
