>>51582753>Venomoth's JP name is Morpho, i.e. morpho butterfly. It's name is Morphon, not Morpho, and if you think some japanese dudes in the 90s were going for the latin scientific name of a butterfly genus you're a moron. Obviously it's Morphon as in morphing, as in metamorphosis, as in that thing butterflies do. Moreover morpho butterflies do not have the salient wing protrusion that Venomoth does, that is a signature trait of swallowtail butterflies(and it's undeniable that Caterpie is based on a swallowtail caterpillar due to its signature crest)
>but even though clueless retards replied to say he is wrong, the 1997? Pokédex book >>51565709 is talking about seems to be suggesting that Venomoth is mimicking Butterfree in some way.No it doesn't, not in any way shape or form. There is not the slightest hint of connection. The only thing the book does is present Venonat and Venomoth as separate pokémon as if one evolving into the other hasn't been discovered yet, with Venomoth's saying it's larva(caterpillar) and pupa(cocoon) stages are unknown. No matter how many times you keep repeating and claiming there is more to it, that is the only thing that is in there, period.
>>51582774Funny that you're inadvertently admitting to just how connected they are to the point they are just "the same but bigger"
