I liked Guzma when his game was new, not husbando-caliber liking at the time, but I found the whole experience unsatisfying and put it and the franchise aside after finishing. Didn't follow USUM at all. Totally missed out on his heyday when he had his own general and the dubious honor of being a tumblr sexyman. Wandered back to /vp/ for SWSH leaks and Showderp, lost interest, rinse and repeat with SV, except this time I decided to curb my desire to buy the new game by replaying SM. I don't know, maybe my brain chemistry's fucked or something, but instead of "haha, Guzma's cool" it was "haha, you're going to be obsessed with him."
Conveniently, the husbando thread was around to fuel the fire. He does check a lot of boxes for me though. If you distilled all the tropes and physical appearance stuff that I go for down into one character, it's alarmingly...pretty much just Guzma. But I do get a little twinge of "oh, you haven't been into him the whole time" sometimes, which I know is silly.
Another weird thing I feel vaguely bad for is my first husbando was Steven, and I can't recapture that feeling at all.
