They seem to be using the same battle system and mechanics, and the models and animations are all still the same. Did they just decide to redo the entire system from scratch for some reason, or did they maybe implement some new feature that threw the entire system on it's head?
One thing I want to say however, is that I don't think they'll be re-adding things in increments, just based on masuda's statement regarding their policy from here on out. It seems like they want to lock each game they release to a certain set of pokemon, and the ones that aren't in the game are simply to wait in pokemon home or in a game that actually has them in it's code. It does not seem like fresh start to me, since that would imply they'll be moving forwards with the pokemon roster in some way.
