A simple explanation for the retcon would be an adverse effect of the Ultra Beasts entering the PokeEarth dimension, referred to as the "Impact". Would be introduced in either a new gen or DP remakes on NX. Could also be closely related to plot, region (Next pokemon games could include space travel instead of being on PokeEarth all the time, I have loads of ideas).
