Personally my favorite starter designs. The only actual reason they have such a large amount of disapproval on /vp/ (other than competitive issues) is literally because "oh, the final evolution isn't similar to my preconceived notions of what it should've looked like (e.g. 'it just gets bigger;), therefore it's bad".
Thankfully, I've yet to come across another Pokemon community that had this same consensus. They're fairly well-liked in other boards and sites.
