He isn't arguing that the value for the system as a whole (the handheld + dock) is bad for what it is, but because those who might want it solely for the handheld purposes MAY NOT be willing to spend a higher price than let's say a New 3DS XL.
Handhelds are normally a cheaper alternative to traditional "at-home" consoles, but if the price of the Switch as a standalone handheld is more similar in price to a new XB1 or PS4 when it launches, there will obviously be some people thinking that that's too expensive for them and what they intend to use that Switch for.
Christ man, I think the Switch looks neat but if the price for the handheld version alone is what I might pay for another at-home console already I can see why some people wouldn't want to shell out the money for it.
