In the screenshot: "... It's possible..." = expresses an uncertainty, it evokes a possibility, because since space-time is complex, it evokes this eventuality. This means that it doesn't assert anything with certainty, a doubt hovers over the subject as we're not given the definitive answer as to where this professor comes from.
The only sure thing is that the professor has been moved in space (from his laboratory to the lake, which is a different place). Then we, as the reader, see through the discussion that this professor hasn't yet completed his research and experiments (so it helps to situate in time that whatever his timeline, he comes from a past).
Whether or not the professor comes from our timeline is not important, it's a detail. The time machine has its own properties and its own way of working, so it wouldn't change the nature of the Pokemon Paradoxes that have existed in our past and/or will exist in the future as expressed by the AI, who completed his research, made experiments and encountered them. Which means that the AI has knowledge that the lake professor does not yet possess because he has not yet built a machine, nor has he met or studied specimens of Pokemon Paradoxes.
Nothing complicated, just logic. All it takes is a little good faith to differentiate between assertions and possible suppositions. All without throwing the context in the trash, thank you
