Correct, it isn't necessary for COMPLETION, but it's necessary for fucking replay value for these games. Even the gimmicks that affected the core gameplay that have seated themselves well enough in the competitive scene like Megas and Z-Moves are now being axed and called "not necessary."
You people really would still defend this shit even as Pokemon is reduced to a walking simulator, wouldn't you?
