This is testing the water, if one does better than the other they will back the winning horse. Business isn't a charity, it's about making money and we've all seen the results of Game Freak attempting to make core games appealing to a casual market. It blew up in their face. LGPE is Game Freak telling us it's more interested in pursuing casual players than the core fans.
This is the line in the sand. LGPE and Gen8 will determine the future of the franchise and you've got to be willfully naive to think otherwise. You're living in a fantasy land where you've convinced yourself of the most novel outcome without stopping to think about whether or not it makes sense, or if businesses actually work like that.
