He is just REALLY stressed out about everything that has been going on, and his clothes are ripped because he loves playing with his man made monstrosity, which he just treats as a regular Pokemon, with love and care. Then there's the fact that half his team evolves trough friendship, and that he just mellows the fuck out after everything is said and done. He's a cool character.
