>>41010784There were some area guides that appeared in Nintendo Power and while bored one evening I read through them. I recall they talk about the Route just below Lavender Town and the Safari Zone. However I had no real concept of what I was reading about and I thought the main character was some kid wondering around inside a military base.
Sometime later a friend of mine from school stayed the night at my place and he brought over Pokemon Red, which he'd been playing all week. That night he played it on my Super Gameboy, battling against Sabrina, Koga, exploring the Safari Zone, and travelling through the Seafome Islands to Cinnabar Island, then on to the Pokemon league. He used his Masterball to catch Moltres, having failed to catch Articuno. I fell in love with the game that night and I soon got Pokemon Blue.
I remember my friend's three main Pokemon, though he had others. His best was his Nidoking which had Ice Beam, then his Charmeleon, and then Fearow. I can't remember what the others were.
