To be honest, I've argued in bad faith actually - balance-wise, the problem isn't just thanks to the split itself, the new moves that were introduced/buffed also played a large role into what I tried to illustrate with some pokemon becoming so obnoxiously strong.
To my personal tastes, I didn't like it due to it streamlining all types into similar moves so the type chart plays an even bigger role than before.
