Later on though, there will be a plot mandatory event where you must have done one of four things to proceed. Three are missable (destroying the secret mon being one) and the fourth requires doing all the help quests in Illyria, which is safe and can be done at any time but fuck that. Destroying the secret mon seems like the obvious choice if you can't use it.
