That's from a Western perspective. Maybe if the game was done by us it'd look similar, but the Japanese will really highlight the differences between China and Japan. Plus it'd be interesting how Japan sees China and it'd be a smart move economically by Nintendo because of the Chinese market.
Aside from that, yeah, it'd be pretty cool for Pokemon to go /full/ cheeki breeki.
Can't pick Brazil or Africa because it'd be too similar to Alola. Can't go to Russia because a Sinnoh remake is due and that's already winter oriented. I think a Chinese region would be interesting. They could even have some Tibetan monks or something! The only catch with the Chinese region would be that they'd have to be very careful what they portray in the game. They'd have to make sure to have a positive spin of the Chinese government or else China will ban the game. Plus there are issues of Chinese-Japanese tensions recently hmmm.
But yeah, USA is done, France is done. We just had a tropical region so all together that eliminates both Americas, Europe and Africa. Sinnoh remake will rule out Slavistan unless it's cheeki breeki.
