>>32487410I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Nuzlocke, is in fact, Pokemon: Hard Mode/Nuzlocke, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Pokemon: Hard Mode plus Nuzlocke. Nuzlocke is not a Pokémon challenge run unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Pokémon: Hard Mode challenge run made useful by the permadeath clause, one catch per route clause and nickname rule comprising a full pokemon challenge run as defined by comic author Nuzlocke.
Many Pokémon players run a modified version of the Pokemon: Hard Mode ruleset every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Pokemon: Hard Mode which is widely used today is often called “Nuzlocke”, and many of its players are not aware that it is basically the Pokemon: Hard Mode ruleset, developed by the author Nuzlocke.
There really is a Nuzlocke, and these people are playing it, but it is just a part of the ruleset they use. Nuzlocke is the kernel: the essential three rules needed to play a pokemon challenge run. This base ruleset is an essential part of a Pokémon challenge run, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete challrnge run rule set. Nuzlocke is normally used in combination with the Pokémon: hard mode system: the whole system is basically Pokémon: Hard Mode with Nuzlocke added, or Pokémon: Hard Mode plus Nuzlocke. All the so-called “Nuzlocke” runs are really runs of Pokémon:Hard mode / Nuzlocke.
