I will forever defend those games as some of the examples of the beginning of the most mediocre period of gamefreak but worthy of at least one playthrough.
They really attempted something new, for as mediocre as it came out in the end and for as much wasted potential there was.
XY is un-defendable to me because they're literally the most fucking bland and boring pokemon games I've ever played and the only reason people defend them is because the jump to 3d was so groundbreaking it distracted them from how bad the games were for years. Also the anime being at it's peak in terms of quality.
ORAS are good honestly AS LONG and only AS LONG as you did not grow with RSE.
