Honchkrow had larger, more pointed feather crests on their head in the distant past. Oddly, depictions of these Honchkrow often feature oddities such as 8-legged Rapidash which have yet to be seen outside of these depictions.
When human habitats started expanding, Murkrow flocked to the new urban environments and started living in larger groups than they ever had before. Their feather crests supposedly shrunk around this time to better faciliate living in attics and other human spaces.
Rarely, elderly Honchkrow with the larger feather crests are seen in the wild, being tended to by gatherings of well-established Honchkrow. Researchers speculate that these Honchkrow are paying respect to their seniors in the same way they their underling Murkrow do.
