That meant they were going to do away with SM's focus on story and characters, but also that the "meritful" part is something that every game prior had already done instead of something creative or new and that they were likely removing side activities, flavour, culture and lore, since why else would they claim to focus on something that all games ALREADY have (and which was already so developed in gen 5)?
After the endless cuts and jewing in ORAS and both Sm and USUM being hald-baked games, I didn't give them the ebenfit of the doubt. The dex cut confirmed soon after meant that either they were going to ship even more unfinished than ever or they were going to jew us out with Home. It was both.
