Ultra beasts are not "self-inserts", they are intentionally made to look outlandish because they are from a different dimension. They don't make themself look presentable, they simply come as they are, most likely to have a niche in their original habitat that we never get to explore. Faunazon isn't more complex designwise than Primarina, Emboar or Torterra. Nothing is just there to be there (kind of the definition of overdesigned) any more than the other late gen starters.
