>>25220369Well, yes, that's a big one. Smogon is 6v6 while TPDP's usage tracks only 3v3 battles (i.e. bring 6 pick 3), which has significant ramifications on what is best to use. It is also worth noting that for the purposes of making tiers that Smogon curates the usage charts to include only battlers with a sufficiently high rank that month, while because there is no ranking at all TPDP is just reporting all teams used no matter how competent the person using it is.
There are stats on Smogon's website that include every single player regardless of rank, although they're usually not placed in the open for whatever reason. For OU 6v6, those usage stats counting all players are quite a bit closer to TPDP's stats (Landorus-T is only on 15% rather than ~29%, Pokemon stop being on 10%+ of all teams teams after 10th place in the usage charts, etc.), but there is still the fact that's 6v6 and TPDP is 3v3.
There is also a simulated equivalent to Battle Spot on Smogon (i.e. 3v3), but even without curating lower-quality players those are almost as centralized as the regular OU stats, a side effect of nowhere near as many people playing it as they do regular OU. And with said curation you have things like Garchomp being reported on almost half of all teams.
http://www.smogon.com/stats/Here's where Smogon keeps all their collected usage stats, if you want to decide for yourself which selection of usage stats would be best comparable to TPDP's usage stats.
For reference, the raw % is the uncurated percentage of all teams it was on, and the real % represents the number of times a Pokemon was used on a team (again without curating for ranking) and actually was sent out into battle.
