>>46952018I’ve literally been here since the second to last episode of Best Wishes aired, when Iris and Cilan left, and some anon made a thread about it and it was probably the most populated anime thread you could get at the time. Like a week or two after the last BW episode aired, some anon made a “anime hype thread” for discussion on the anticipated new series which grabbed a lot of people’s interests because of the sneak peak trailer showing an older looking Ash, fingernails, dynamic camera angles in battles, all the usual XY stuff. Those were made consistently because they were going so fast, and mods started to delete them because they weren’t generals or whatever, and wanted threads to only be made on the day the episode aired. Obviously no one followed that rule, and I think these threads finally became /padt/ around the lead up to the BroBowl I think? Can’t remember for sure because no one ever agreed on changing the name from Hype Threads, so when someone eventually did, it kind of just stuck.
But man were those some fun times. Upcoming episode previews annually, PokeFan scans, Data Broadcasts, CoroCoro teases, the Mega Evolution specials, all the memes, namefags, Tripokalon waifu wars, battle bowls, all the while getting our hopes build up that Ash might actually win this time, for real, and it all came crashing down in spectacular fashion, with SM’s reveal from the CoroCoro scans being an extra burn.
The most fun I’ve had on /vp/ was 2013-2016 and some days I really wish we could go back.
