XY are the most forgettable games in the franchise. The music is blander than previous games, the routes and dungeons feel small as fuck, the graphics aren't as polished aside from the pokemon models themselves. And the story and characters certainly aren't memorable. Not to mention the ratio of old to new pokemon.
Nothing in them leaves any impression on you; LGPE get attention for being controversial and having requested changes like followers and no REs. XY don't even have that going for them.
A truly unremarkable experience.
