I caught a shiny ferroseed (now ferrothorn) the other day, and as its only my second shiny ever in many years of playing I'd like to put it to use. Fortunately I caught it in the friend safari, so it came with decent stats (30 Atk, 31 Def, 31 SpDef, the rest in the 20s). Neutral nature.
The problem is because of course he'll have no egg moves (or tutor moves) his move pool is a bit limited.
Right now I'm using him as a bulky attacker/pivot, with 252 EVs in HP and Att, 4 in SpDef

Iron Head
Power Whip
Pin Missile
Holding a Rocky Helmet.
Any advice on this? I'm considering switching to a more defensive EV spread, but not sure whether to go for more SpDef or Def. Would an Assault Vest set be viable? Or should I just go for Leftovers?
