I feel like I need a ground type for general battle use so I don't get giga-cucked by random electric types, but also I want to replace gyarados with a dark type for the elite four....what to do?

Keeping my bros no matter what. Pelipper is just a really useful water type with protect, gyarados I used to intimidate spam manectric while switching back and forth between it and nincada until I stalled his shockwaves.
Using no items in battle for reference.
