>>57234336It depends, some of them are cool takes on existing Pokémon but others could have been their own concept. No reason Alola and Galar Meowth couldn't have just been their region's Skitty/Glameow/Purrloin/Litleo
I don't think it's fair to characterize Pokémon following an archetype as a "reboot" of the "original" Pokémon either. Pidgeot, Talonflame and Corviknight are all very different Pokémon even though they're all third-stage regional birds.
