So vileplume's flower head infects the pokemon since is an oddish, in a similar way than paras with the mushrooms, and this grows in the host when it evolves. oddish is a healthy pokemon free of parasites, but when evolves in gloom, the parasite has already infected most of the pokemon's body, that's why gloom is always with that "gloomy face", it's because is starting to lose it mind, and when gloom finally evolves in vileplume, the flower has already taken over the neuronal control of the host, and therefore of the body. On the other hand , the bellossom evolution it would be a cured version of the pokemon, free of the parasite.
