The cool thing about playing all versions back to back is seeing the small (and the not so small) differences and noting how things progressed.
The UI is so much cleaner in emerald comparing to Ruby/Sapphire. Also, the first lvl2 zigzagoon you fight have a oran berry in Emerald and not in RS. Also i got wiped by a lvl4 zigzagoon in my first encounter because he critted me two turns straight and then moved faster in the last turn. That's quite embarassing.
>>31627387First of all don't despair. It's specially hard on gen 01 because there are so much less items around. Plan your captures well - if you can hang on with only two pokemon for a while then ignore some routes till you can get something better later. Your pokeballs are worth gold. Also if you use a parity clause, always grind everyone to the max level possible before E4. I tried my best to save my items and i still didnt had nearly enough during it so i was clenching my a-hole in fear the entire time. It was worth though, its fun and you feel really accomplished when you finally beat it.
Things get better when you reach gen III and abilities. A bunch of zigzagoons on your first routes might look like bad luck but when they start picking up ultra balls and super potions you're going to love the little buggers
i'm kinda screwed now because against all odds my linoone actually survived the entire game and the E4 so the entire lineage retires. i know meowth have pickup in FRLG but they're not nearly as avaliable. eh i'll manage
