>>51743275>tiles don't mesh togetherThere's a lot busier contrasting colors going on to stand out on a dimly lit gbc screen, but in general there's a lot of care put into making the tiles fit into eachother and using them in ways that's interesting to look at and make each map unique.
When the average gsc map is as bland as pic related, with the same grass, trees, fences and sand, it becomes incredibly hard to tell where in the world a screenshot is taken in, unless you're intimate with the route layout. Gen2 outdoor tiles are almost exclusively random patterns of dots and bricks in various colors. Serviceable but pretty mediocre.
