There's this sort of unspoken rule; "Don't piss off 4chan persons unless you want a lot of sudden headaches." There are AAA studios, movie publishers, hell, even some world governments that don't really know how to deal with unbridled weaponized autism.
From what I understand of the individual, he was a mid level streamer, small studio, who was more about his personal passion but also catering to the algorithim and the "Excited fan media" that built up crowd frustration with vitriol.
Imagine if you were doing something on your end, something of a hobby, and then suddenly out of nowhere, you get sabotaged by a bunch of angry and frustrated Anons who decided to make you the poster child of their movement. How would you deal with it, especially if you're relatively naive to the nature of the internet.
Even if you weren't naive to the nature of the internet and played it off cool; you'd have a headache in trying to speak up or ignore; because the simple truth is that some people are simply terrible and need to beat others down so they feel better about themselves and navigating that route could result in doxing, swatting, bricking, etc.
So again; I will reiterate the feeling of feeling apologetic, because honestly, he was just like any of us. People enjoying what they enjoy, and trying to figure out how to pursue his passions in a way that sustained the passion. Then because of sincerely terrible people who wanted to beat down their frustrations at someone else, took it out on him.
Yes, he could've dealt with it differently, but so could've we, and so could've I. I didn't have to draw first cut to what leads to a million more.
I will not back down from that feeling of regret; there were plenty of other people deserving of the gutting; but something about the urinal face made me said "You"
