Was it just me or was Gen 5 when public opinion on Pokemon generally the lowest? Maybe it's because it was the first gen released after the internet, especially sites like Facebook and YouTube, achieved mainstream popularity. I just remember a lot of virtriol regarding these games, moreso than any other game.
And considering the absurd level of Kanto pandering that came after it, especially in Kalos, I'm not surprised if the two are connected.
