I think it was the innocence that I miss the most amplified by the fact that the internet wasn’t a part of our everyday lives. That kind of atmosphere can never be replicated in today’s world.
When gen5 was introduced as the new kanto, I decided to go into the gen blind, something I’d do for all the gens afterwards. I got older and each game has become more and more of a chore. The candle I’ve held for Pokémon is nearly extinguished after the shit that this new gen has revealed so far.
I think back and remember looking at Skarmory as a new Pokémon and then compare that to how now we have KISStagoon.
As much as I hate it, I know that these new abominations will be someone’s intro to Pokémon and if it is something that will give them fond memories years from now just like mine, then I’m like whatever it is what it is
